Dr. Gouger is completing a surgical critical care fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital after having graduated in June 2024 from a combined subspecialty fellowship track in both neurocritical care and neuroanesthesiology. Dr. Gouger completed a anesthesiology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. He received his medical degree from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine with a specialization track in medical education, including a post-doctoral fellowship in curriculum and instruction with emphasis on adult teaching and learning. He has worked as a simulation instructor for the Hopkins ACCM residency program throughout his fellowship training at JHH. His clinical interests are in neurotrauma, neuroanesthesiology, and acute care resuscitation. His current research interests are in virtual reality and augmented reality applications for acute care simulation-based education.
