The PICU Up! Research Team is focused on clinical trials, quality improvement and safety research to improve outcomes for critically ill children. Our interprofessional team includes nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, undergraduate and medical students, pediatric and anesthesiology residents, pediatric critical care and anesthesiology fellows, and faculty. Our team collaborates with departments across Johns Hopkins University and institutions and hospitals across the world to understand how early rehabilitation, sedation optimization, delirium prevention and management, sleep promotion and family engagement can be best integrated into routine PICU care.

The PICU Up! Research Team has led an international point prevalence study of over 200 hospitals characterizing physical rehabilitation for critically ill children, and are actively conducting clinical trials of the PICU Up! multifaceted early mobility intervention.
