Dr. Katherine Norgaard is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She attended medical school at Stony Brook University School of Medicine followed by an intern year in internal medicine at Stony Brook University, then completed a residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Norgaard works in several different departments at Johns Hopkins including general adult anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, ophthalmic anesthesia and outpatient regional anesthesia. She currently has an active role in simulation training for the Johns Hopkins Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Residency College Days. There she leads CA1, CA2 and CA3 residents through clinical emergency scenarios in a safe environment in preparation for real-life scenarios. Dr. Norgaard is a leader in training residents in difficult technical skills and helps them develop the effective communication, teamwork and leadership skills needed to handle the rapidly evolving demands encountered in the practice of anesthesiology.
