Shannon Segres Yorkman, DNP, MS, MSN, CRNA, is the primary CRNA for the Brain Stimulation Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She also serves adjunct faculty and the primary clinical instructor for the Johns Hopkins Hospital / Community College of Baltimore County Anesthesia Technology Program. Shannon formerly served on the Advanced Practice Advisory Council of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Shannon is a former lead nurse anesthetist of Neuroanesthesia. She also serves as a clinical instructor for student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Shannon attended the University of South Carolina-Columbia, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing. While pursuing her Bachelor degree, Shannon played on USC’s basketball team. She was team captain for three years and was able to lead the team to two NCAA tournament appearances. Shannon completed her Master of Science in nursing, concentrating in Health Systems Management, at Johns Hopkins University. Shannon completed her Master of Science with specialization in Nurse Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland. She has a Post-Master’s Certification focused on the Teaching of Nurses and Health Professionals. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD.
Among her professional activities, Shannon is a Behavioral Health Ambassador for the Historical Black Colleges and University’s Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health. Shannon has served as the vice president, education committee chair, and SRNA representative of the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and Maryland Nurses Association. She has served as the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists Liaison to the Maryland Nurses Association. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and Coppin State University Honor Society. Shannon mentors high school and college students who aspire to be nurse anesthesiologists.
Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter in her free time.
