Clare Horn, CRNA, MSNA, has been a full-time nurse anesthetist in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine since 2012. She earned her bachelor of science in biology from Mary Washington College, her bachelor in science in nursing from Towson University, and her master’s degree in nurse anesthesia from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Clare currently is working on her PhD in nursing at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Her research interests include anxiety and pain in the perioperative setting.

Clare has more than a dozen years of experience working in the hospital environment. Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, she was a critical care nurse at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Clare actively promotes her profession by mentoring students interested in nursing at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She also serves as a clinical preceptor to student nurse anesthetists. Clare participates in various community outreach projects, including “Take your Child to Work Day,” and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House and her local soup kitchen.
