Mary Beth Brady, MD FASE served as Vice-Chair for the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting and Workshops in Palm Springs CA. In this role, she participated in planning and executing this in-person meeting. Additionally, she participated at this meeting as moderator/speaker for the following sessions. 1) How to Deliver a Mind-blowing Presentation, 2) Comprehensive Approach to Transcatheter Mitral Valve Edge to Edge Repair, 3) Best of Meeting & Early Career Investigator Award, 4) Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology Certification – What it Is and What it Means to You, and 5) Interventional Echocardiography for Structural Heart What to Say When All Eyes Are On You!

Laura E W Chin, MD MPH was a speaker for Grand Rounds for the Mercy Hospital Anesthesia Department, where she presented “Ambulatory Anesthesia- Pearls and Pitfalls” discussing facility resources, patient selection, and SAMBA guidelines addressing comorbidities.”
Sung-Min Cho, DO, MHS, was the Keynote Speaker at the Parkview Health Stroke Annual Symposium, presenting “The Role of Neurologists in Management of ECMO-Associated Stroke” in Fort Wayne IN. Dr. Cho also presented “Long-term Neuropsychiatric Outcome in COVID-19” at the Loma Linda Internal Medicine Grand Rounds in Loma Linda CA. Dr. Cho also presented , “Neurological Assessment and Care in Cardiogenic Shock” at the Korea Cardiogenic Shock Annual Symposium 2022 in Seoul, S. Korea.

Jessica George, MD was inaugurated as the President of ERAS Pediatrics at the 8th ERAS World Congress in Madrid, Spain.
Anita Gupta, DO, MPP, PharmD was appointed to the World Economic Forum (WEF) as an Expert Member on Future of Health, Biotechnology, Pandemics. Dr. Gupta also moderated the “CEO Roundtable: ESG Priorities in Life Sciences Innovation” at “Future of Health: Leading Healthcare Transformation on ESG” – a collaboration between the Harvard Business School Healthcare Alumni Association and Johnson and Johnson Innovation JLabs.
Nicola Heller, PhD and co-investigators Franco D’Alessio, MD and Peter Abadir, MD received an acceptance of their Letter of Intent (LOI) and were invited to submit a full proposal for a Pilot / Exploratory Studies Core Award from the Johns Hopkins Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center. Dr. Heller was also invited to give a talk at a two-day symposium at Northwestern University in honor of the careers of Drs. Robert Schleimer and Bruce Bochner, both former Hopkins faculty.
Nadia Hensley, MD presented “A Refresher Course Lecture Opening Plenary Session: Cardiac OR Coagulation Quandaries: Pathways, Drugs, and Algorithms” and was the Speaker in the Pro/Con Debate “Fibrinogen Concentrate vs. Cryoprecipitate: Is the US Behind the Times or Are We Following the Evidence?” at the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists 2022 Annual Meeting and Workshops in Palm Springs CA in May. Dr. Hensley also moderated the Interventional Workshop at the event.
Adam Laytin, MD MPH was an invited speaker at a national symposium on acute care, critical care and surgical capacity building in Ethiopia hosted by Debre Berhan University, presenting “Global Perspectives on Acute, Emergency and Critical Care.” Dr. Laytin also led two sessions at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Annual Meeting: “Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Research in Low Resource Settings: Landmark Studies That Do It Right” and “Early Critical Care in Low Resource Settings: Adapting Resuscitation Strategies to Save Lives.”
Hannah Lonsdale MD, MBChB, FRCA, MFCI presented at Euroanaesthesia 2022, the European Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care annual congress in Milan, Italy in June on “Artificial Intelligence and its Application in Pediatric Medicine.”

Eellan Sivanesan, MD, presented the lecture, “Mechanisms and Outcomes of Emerging Modalities of Spinal Cord Stimulation” at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Neuromodulation Society in St. John’s Newfoundland.
Mellany Stanislaus, MD presented “Decision Analysis for Evaluating Antepartum Risk Prediction of Pre-eclampsia: Minimum Test Tradeoff” at the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology in Chicago in May. Dr. Stanislaus also led the Problem-Based Learning Discussion in Obstetric Anesthesiology at ACCM Grand Rounds in June.
Jochen Steppan, MD DESA FAHA FASA, presented the lectures “What Does the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist Need to Know About Congenital Heart Disease?” and “LVAD updates for 2022” at the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists 2022 Annual Meeting and Workshops in Palm Springs in May. Dr. Steppan was also Instructor for Cardiac Anesthesia and Staff for the event’s PBLD session Cardiac Anesthesia Faculty and Staff, “Severe Pulmonary Hypertension and Noncardiac Surgery – No Need to be Afraid.”
