Steve Frank, MD presented the abstract “Greater than 7-fold Return on Investment with a Comprehensive Patient Blood Management Program with Equivalent of Improved Outcomes” in the “Best of Meeting: Clinical Science” panel at the ASA Annual Meeting. The abstract was selected as one of the top 12 clinical abstracts of this year’s meeting.
Lee Goeddel, MD, MPH presented two invited talks at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine held in Milan: “Can big data research identify and quantify modifiability in acute kidney injury?” and “Can preoperative TTE advance precision perioperative care?
Lee Goeddel, MD, MPH presented an abstract at the American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week: “Low cardiac output is associated with renal tubular injury measured by urinary NGAL during cardiac surgery.”
Lee Goeddel, MD, MPH presented an abstract at the Scientific Sessions of the AHA: “Echocardiographic metrics before CABG are associated with postoperative kidney injury in patients with preserved Ejection Fraction and mean perfusion pressure may mediate this relationship.”
Lauren Harkins, RN, Pediatric Transport nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital (mentored by Corina Noje, MD) presented an oral abstract titled “Implementation of direct admission to the OR procedure for children transported with airway emergencies” at the 2023 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition Meeting and won The C. Robert Chambliss, MD, Best Paper Award. Of note, she is one of the very few Allied Health Professionals (and the only registered nurse) to have ever won this award.
Daniel Kim, MD was awarded the “Frank L. Coulson, Jr. Award for Clinical Excellence” last month by the Miller Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence.
Susanne Muehlschlegel, MD, MPH, FNCS, FCCM, FAAN is co-chairing an international neuroprognostication guideline with the Neurocritical Care Society and the German Neurointensive Care Society (DGNI, Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Neurointensivmedizin).They are working on 8 guidelines.
