Kimberly Allen, BA, Cer ATT was awarded the 2023 Jami Blue Anesthesia Tech of the Year Award by the American Association of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) in Pasadena, CA.

This is a national award, and one that evidently hasn’t been awarded in nearly 15 years. This makes it a very rare and special honor. The award recognizes Kim’s contributions nationally to advance the field of anesthesia technologists from her involvement in education and policy.

Kim was the first Certified Anesthesia Technologist in the state of Maryland, and came up with the idea to start a school of anesthesia technology at Hopkins. She has been involved in the school from its inception, and our graduates for the past 7 years have benefitted from her dedication and teaching.

Additionally, Kim holds the position of secretary on the Committee on Accreditation for Anesthesia Technology Education, which is a branch of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). CAAHEP is the organization that accredits allied health programs as diverse as EMT-Paramedic, surgical technology, ultrasound technology, respiratory care, etc. In this capacity, she is involved in accrediting anesthesia technology schools nationwide.

Congratulations, Kim, for a well-deserved (and very rare) honor!
