It is our pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Promise Ariyo as the Assistant Director of Patient Safety and Clinical Quality for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. She joins Ms. Oluwatosin (Tosin) Odutola and Drs. Tracey Stierer and Nadia Hensley on our excellent safety and quality team.
Dr. Ariyo completed her medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons before joining Johns Hopkins ACCM for her residency training. Following residency Dr. Ariyo completed fellowships in critical care medicine and cardiothoracic anesthesiology. Ever on the quest for additional knowledge and expertise, she obtained a Masters in Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and completed a T-32 research fellowship in our department.
Dr. Ariyo is a master clinician who cares for the most complex patients in the operating rooms and critical care units. She is also a sought-after educator to learners at all levels. She received the “Friends of Nursing Attending Award” because of her multi-disciplinary and respectful approach to patient care. Her research interests in global health delivery and resuscitation are tightly coupled to quality and safety.
Serving as the Quality Improvement Director for the Division of Critical Care from 2018-2020, Dr Ariyo skillfully identified areas for improvement and managed important change. We are confident she will bring her collaborative spirit, curiosity, diligence and intelligence to the ACCM patient safety and clinical quality team.
