Johns Hopkins anesthesiology residents and faculty hosted a PTECH workshop with students from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. The event was held at Johns Hopkins Hospital on Wednesday, December 7th from 1-3 PM, led by Dr. Michael Banks, Dr. Brandon Sumida, Dr. Imelda Muller, Dr. Janet Adegboye, and Julian Rowe (a 4th-year medical student), with the support of the ACCM DEI Council.
The students participated in a workshop focused on careers in anesthesiology. They learned about different educational and training paths and the role of an anesthesiologist in the hospital. They participated in skills-based activities involving intubation and ultrasound and learned how both are used through a patient case story.

More opportunities to get involved with K-12 education in Baltimore City will be happening in the coming year. We look forward to continuing and expanding these workshops to introduce students to careers in medicine and to mentoring relationships.
