ACCM StAAR Awards: Stimulating and Advancing ACCM Research
The major goals of the StAAR Award program are to ensure the most effective use of precious department investment funds for promoting career and program development of ACCM faculty members and to ensure significant financial return on these investments. Michael Rosen, PhD, received a Clinical Research Core Award for his proposal titled “Precision Intraoperative Teaming: Evidence-based Strategies for Surgical Team Composition.”
Shravani Durbhakula, MD, received an Investigator Award for her proposal titled “The First Independent US-Based Cost-Effectiveness Simulation Model Evaluating Spinal Cord Stimulation in Low Back and Neuropathic Leg Pain that Considers the Impact of Therapy Timing.”
Xiaoning Han, MD, PhD, received an Investigator Award for her proposal titled “Chronic Sleep Deprivation-induced Immune Cell Infiltration to the Brain Increases Microglial Phagocytosis.”
Roger Johns, MD, PhD, received an Investigator Award for his proposal titled “Resistin-driven Lung Inflammation in COVID-19.”
Kellie Jaremko, MD, PhD, received an Investigator Award for her proposal titled “Perioperative Opioid Tapering and Pain Management in Patients on Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder.”
