Objectives of this lecture:
After attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:

• Define chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) and differentiate it from expected
• Understand the mechanisms of pain chronification and identify key
• Identify major patient-, procedure-, and perioperative care–related risk factors associated with pain chronification after surgery.
• Select and implement evidence-based prevention strategies including multimodal analgesia, preventive analgesia, regional techniques, and opioid stewardship.
