Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth (Liz) Winans Tucker, MD for her promotion to Associate Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine and Pediatrics. She specializes in pediatric critical care medicine and is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in pediatric neurocritical care and neurologic injury secondary to infectious diseases in children. Dr. Tucker is an exceptional leader whose passion and intellectual curiosity have made her a role model for trainees and junior faculty.

Dr. Tucker received her medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine and attended Johns Hopkins for pediatric residency and pediatric critical care medicine fellowship. During her fellowship training, she established a strong foundation for her research career in basic and translational science focused on pediatric neurocritical care and investigating brain injury from infectious diseases. Her scholarly work is at the intersection of neurocritical care, infectious diseases, and global health, merging within her research program focused on tuberculosis meningitis. Her research contributions have advanced the scientific understanding and treatment in critical areas, impacting the global health medical community.

Dr. Tucker has demonstrated a strong commitment to Johns Hopkins’ education mission through a combination of clinical, classroom, and simulation teaching. Her exceptional mentorship abilities have profoundly impacted the students and trainees she has guided throughout her career.
