Mingfeng Cao, MS
BME PhD Student
Mingfeng Cao is a biomedical engineering graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, where his research focuses on neurophysiology, signal processing, and critical care applications in ECMO and cardiac arrest. He earned his B.S. in Biophysics from Duke Kunshan University, where he first became involved in neural signal analysis. His work spans both preclinical and clinical research, with contributions to studies on intracranial dynamics during extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, portable neuroimaging in ECMO patients, and machine learning models for predicting acute brain injury. He has also explored somatosensory evoked potentials and high-frequency oscillations as tools for neurologic monitoring and prognosis in both rodent models and human patients. His goal is to bridge engineering and critical care to develop better bedside diagnostics and monitoring strategies for neurologically vulnerable patients.
