Dr. Swartz is the Myra S. Meyer Professor in Mood Disorders and is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins. She has been recognized regionally and nationally as a leader in the study and treatment of mood disorders, receiving honors for destigmatizing mental illness and her clinical excellence, including being a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Notably, she is the founder and director of the Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP), which has been taught for over 25 years and reached over 140,000 high school students.
