Dr. Deondra Asike is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins since 2015. Prior to her time at Hopkins she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland, R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force and deployed to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan in 2013.

Dr. Asike earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her Internship and Anesthesiology residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. She completed her Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at the University of Maryland. Dr. Asike is double board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Maryland where she also serves as an advisory board member to the Department of Health’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.

Her clinical role as an attending anesthesiologist is mainly within the adult ambulatory anesthesia division and Center for Perioperative Optimization. Her area of academic interest includes perioperative considerations for the cannabis consumer.
