We are pleased to share that the Maryland Department of Commerce has awarded funding to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to establish the Walter E. Dandy Professorship in Neurosciences Critical Care. Johns Hopkins University will provide matching qualified funding, reflecting a major commitment to advancing the future of neurocritical care.

The endowed professorship will support José I. Suárez, MD, FNCS, FANA, FAAN, a nationally and internationally recognized leader in neurocritical care. Throughout his career, Dr. Suárez has made significant contributions to the care of critically ill patients with neurological conditions while advancing research, education and innovation in the field.

This professorship will provide an important opportunity for Dr. Suárez to further translate promising innovations into clinical tools, industry partnerships and commercialization opportunities, helping move discoveries from the research setting toward meaningful applications for patients. It will also strengthen Johns Hopkins’ continued leadership in neurocritical care and its commitment to developing new approaches to some of the most complex and life-threatening neurological conditions.
