We are pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Jessica A. George to the rank of Associate Professor in the Clinical Excellence track in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. This well-deserved recognition reflects Dr. George’s outstanding clinical contributions to pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric pain medicine, as well as her regional, national, and international reputation for advancing quality improvement in the perioperative care of children. She specializes in the development and implementation of pediatric Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways.
As Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Pediatric ERAS Program, Dr. George has led the development and refinement of numerous pathways across a range of pediatric surgical procedures at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Her leadership extends well beyond Johns Hopkins. Since the inception of ERAS Pediatrics, a subsection of ERAS USA, in 2019, she has served on its steering committee, first as Secretary, then as President of its Board of Directors, guiding international collaboration and the development of a consensus guideline statement for pediatric ERAS.
In addition to her clinical and quality improvement leadership, Dr. George is a dedicated educator and mentor. She has extensive experience teaching medical students, residents, and fellows through prior leadership roles in the Johns Hopkins Anesthesiology Residency program and the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship. Her expertise is widely recognized: since 2017, she has delivered 15 invited lectures at regional, national, and international venues, including in Canada, Spain, and Portugal.
We congratulate Dr. George on this significant achievement and thank her for her continued leadership and contributions to pediatric care, education, and quality improvement.
