ACCM Physicians Recognized Among Baltimore and Washington’s Top Providers
Each year, licensed physicians in the greater Baltimore and Washington areas are surveyed to nominate colleagues they would recommend to their family, friends, and community for medical care. The results are compiled and featured annually in the magazine’s November issues of Baltimore Magazine and The Washingtonian.
This year, we are thrilled to share that, for the second consecutive year, Dr. Peju Adekoya has been recognized as one of the top providers in the Baltimore/Washington areas, and again, Dr. Kara Segna and Dr. Richard Barnhardt have been recognized as two of Baltimore’s top providers, joined this year by Brijen Joshi, MD, representing both Johns Hopkins and our Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Adekoya is a Clinical Associate in the Division of Pain Management. His clinical expertise includes anesthesiology and comprehensive and interventional pain medicine, focusing on a wide range of chronic pain conditions. While doing all these amazing things, he has still made time to publish research on outcomes-based approaches to chronic pain conditions.
Dr. Joshi is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology with added expertise in transesophageal echocardiography. Dr. Joshi has a special interest in neurocognitive outcomes post-cardiac surgery, with his research focus on the prevention of neurocognitive dysfunction and stroke after cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. He currently serves as the Chief of Thoracic Anesthesia and Medical Director for High-Risk Surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and was most recently named Johns Hopkins’ Consultant of the Year.
Dr. Barnhardt is an Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine, with a particular focus on opioid-sparing analgesia, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways, and holistic approaches to postoperative pain. He currently serves as the Director of Acute Pain Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Dr. Segna is an Associate Professor in the Divisions of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine, with expertise in anesthesiology and gender-affirming care. She currently or previously has served in numerous leadership roles, including Medical Director of Regional Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Course Director for the TIME-Pain Course at the School of Medicine, Regional Anesthesia Fellowship Director, Co-Chair of the Acute Pain Committee and the Scientific Research Abstract Committee for the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and member of the Education in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Committee for the American Society of Regional Anesthesiologists.
Please join us in congratulating Peju Adekoya, MD, Brijen Joshi, MBBS, Kara Segna, MD, and Richard Barnhardt, DO, on this well-deserved honor!
