Amy Schutter is a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in the Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Department at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Before joining Johns Hopkins, she worked at Geisinger Health System in Danville, PA, for 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital as a registered nurse before pursuing a Masters of Science in nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Interestingly, Amy worked as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in Perinatal Medicine for 10 years at both Lehigh Valley Hospital and Geisinger Medical Center before obtaining her Post-Masters Certificate in Anesthesia from the University of Scranton. Amy gained several years of anesthesia experience at a level-1 trauma center before she came to Hopkins. She has worked in multiple subspecialties, including trauma, transplant, neurology, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, and obstetrics. Currently she is part of the outpatient surgery cohort here at Hopkins.
