Dr. Denise Cinquegrana will serve as Associate Vice Chair for Faculty Recruitment and Retention, partnering with Dr. Frank to recruit, engage, and retain outstanding faculty. Dr. Cinquegrana earned her MPH at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University, and completed residency and fellowship training in Neuroanesthesia at Johns Hopkins. A faculty member since 2017, she brings broad clinical experience, a commitment to resident education and mentorship, and deep institutional knowledge. She serves on the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Admissions Committee and has served on ASA committees in Economics, Neuroanesthesia, and Innovation, with research experience at the NIH and the University of Barcelona.

Since joining our faculty in 2018, Dr. Das has distinguished himself as a nationally recognized leader in cardiovascular disease mechanisms, with a particular focus on the molecular biology underlying how organs communicate with one another through exosomal cargo, including microRNAs. His work bridges fundamental mechanistic discovery and translational innovation, and we are proud to celebrate this well-deserved milestone

Dr. Steven M. Frank has been appointed as the inaugural Vice Chair for Faculty Recruitment and Retention in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, effective July 1, 2026. In this role, Dr. Frank will serve as the department’s chief strategist and operational leader for recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention. He will lead an overhaul of the recruitment process, build proactive pipelines from our residency and fellowship programs, and champion a structured retention program anchored in wellness, belonging, and career growth — ensuring ACCM has the talent to fulfill its clinical, educational, and research missions.

Dr. Dheeraj Goswami has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine on the Clinical Excellence Track. Dr. Goswami is one of only a handful of

physicians nationwide who actively practice across the full continuum of care for children and adults with congenital heart disease, in both the operating room and the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. Board-certified in four fields, including Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Pediatric Anesthesiology, he has built a national reputation as an expert in blood utilization, anticoagulation, and ECMO for patients with congenital cardiac conditions.

Dr. Michael C. Grant has been appointed as Division Chief of Cardiac Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Grant is internationally recognized for his leadership in developing and implementing programs that optimize perioperative care and improve outcomes for surgical patients, and we are confident he will bring that same vision and dedication to this new role.

Dr. Adam Laytin has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. This well-deserved recognition reflects Dr. Laytin’s exceptional contributions as a clinician, researcher, and educator, and his growing reputation as a nationally and internationally recognized leader at the intersection of critical care, emergency medicine, and global health.

Dr. Roya Saffary has been appointed Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Saffary brings an outstanding record of clinical excellence, operational leadership, educational innovation, and expertise in perioperative medicine, and will begin her role on June 1st, 2026.


Dr. Jed Wolpaw has been promoted to Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Wolpaw serves as Vice Chair for Education and residency program director for the 100+ resident training program. He subspecializes in critical care and attends in the surgical ICUs and in the general adult ORs.


Dr. Gregory K. Yurasek has been appointed to the rank of Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Yurasek joined our faculty last year as Medical Unit Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and physician leader in the Blalock-Taussig-Thomas Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center, and this appointment reflects the outstanding contributions he has made throughout his career.
