Dr. Yaman Bilal Ahmad is an aspiring physician-scientist and postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins, with joint appointments in Neurology, Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, and Cardiac Surgery. His academic interests center on neurocritical care and cardiopulmonary interactions, with a focus on acute brain injury in critically ill patients. Under the mentorship of Dr. Sung-Min Cho and Dr. Glenn Whitman, he leads the NIH-funded DELTA-ECMO-ABI (R21) study, assessing the impact of ΔPaCO₂ during ECMO initiation on cerebral autoregulation and neurological outcomes using portable MRI and biomarkers. He is responsible for protocol development, biospecimen and imaging workflows, and translational data analysis. Dr. Ahmad has contributed to multiple NIH and institutional proposals and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications across neuroimaging, machine learning, oncology, and precision medicine. His long-term goal is to integrate neuroimaging, critical care physiology, and biomarker science into precision medicine strategies to improve neurological outcomes in cardiopulmonary failure.
