Robert Brown is a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine, radiology, and environmental health sciences, and physiology at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is an attending physician in the Ambulatory Anesthesia Division.
He currently divides his time between clinical practice, teaching, and research. His research interests include physiologic imaging of airway reactivity in asthma and COPD, the structure function relationship of airway-parenchymal interaction, the effects of air pollutants from burn pits exposure in soldiers in theater, and HIV on the acceleration of emphysema. He has additional research interests in occupational latex allergies in health care workers. More recently, he has been examining the effects of bariatric surgery of changes the levels of environmental toxins in the body.
Dr. Brown received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Rochester, and an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His residency in anesthesiology and fellowship training in chronic pain management were at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He subsequently received an M.P.H. from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
