Nanciann Kean, MSN, CRNA, served as a Certified Surgical Technologist for the United States Navy for 8 years before obtaining a BA in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University. She then received her BS in nursing in 2001 from the University of Delaware and gained experience as an operating room nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Nanciann also gained critical care and leadership experience as a preceptor and charge nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit at the University of Maryland. Already an experienced nurse, Nanciann went on to graduate from the University of Maryland in 2008 with an MSN in Nurse Anesthesiology and began her Nurse Anesthetist career at Johns Hopkins University. 

Besides specializing in colorectal surgery, plastics, robotic surgery, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), Nanciann assumes leadership roles such as CRNA Facilitator and SRNA (Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist) preceptor. She has also been involved in numerous committees, including the Johns Hopkins University P3 (Performance, Partnership, Process), the Nominating Committee for the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and multiple other committees dedicated to the structural analysis and improvement of the Nurse Anesthetist division in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
