What We Teach:
The neurosurgical anesthesia fellowship is a one-year academic fellowship with the goal of producing outstanding clinicians who have developed a research niche in the subspecialty. Fellows are exposed to an outstanding neurosurgical caseload, including intracranial, neurovascular, major spine, peripheral nerve, functional neurosurgery, and interventional neuroradiology. Additional training includes exposure to electrophysiologic monitoring and neurocritical care.
The neurosurgical anesthesia fellowship is a hybrid faculty-fellow track, for which candidates must obtain a Maryland medical license and be board-eligible in Anesthesiology, and have a history of clinical excellence and aptitude for research. The fellowship includes protected time and mentoring for research, and education in neuromonitoring, neuro-intensive care, and clinical neurosciences. Fellows will experience a busy caseload including neurovascular, major spine, functional neurosurgery, craniotomies for brain tumor, and interventional neuroradiology. Educational and research support and a flexible, individualized design that can be tailored to a broad range of interests in clinical or basic research to launch your career as an academic anesthesiologist.
