As a nurse, she worked one year on a cardiac step-down unit and three years in the surgical intensive care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has been credentialed by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) by passing the CCRN examination and is licensed in Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS). She graduated with a master’s degree in nursing from Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia with a 4.0 grade point average.
