She also sits on the advisory committee for the Johns Hopkins Anesthesia Technologist School. Shannon is a former lead nurse anesthetist of Neuroanesthesia. She serves as a clinical instructor for student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and frequently serves in the role of CRNA facilitator.
Shannon attended the University of South Carolina-Columbia, where she obtained her bachelor of science in nursing. She completed her master of science in nursing, concentrating in health systems management, at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her master of science with specialization in nurse anesthesia at the University of Maryland. She also has a Post-Master’s Certification focused on the Teaching of Nurses and Health Professionals. She is currently pursuing a doctor of nursing practice degree at the University of Maryland.
Among her professional activities, Shannon has served as the vice president, education committee chair, and SRNA representative of the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and Maryland Nurses Association. She has served as the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists Liaison to the Maryland Nurses Association. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Shannon also mentors high school and college students who aspire to be nurse anesthetists.
