The deadline for submission of StAAR grants for the Fall Cycle (Cycle #15) will be Sunday, October 16, 2022. As you are aware, the ACCM StAAR (Stimulating and Advancing ACCM Research) Awards are vital for our departmental discovery and innovation efforts. We have had excellent success with our StAAR awards and have seen an extremely high return on investment from extramural funding.

We invite faculty investigators, especially junior investigators, to submit applications for pilot studies that will enable collection of preliminary data for extramural funding. Research applications are encouraged from all Discovery areas and from all the research cores. We encourage you to engage with the research cores to develop your applications. In particular, if you intend to use the Precision Medicine Analytics Platform (PMAP) or the Clinical Research Core (CRC), we highly recommend that you contact someone from the CRC before submitting your StAAR application (see contact information below). We also encourage submission of applications that have the potential to lead to novel devices and/or intellectual property. If your application has a commercial potential, please indicate that in your application.

Revisions of previous StAAR applications are strongly encouraged and should include a one-page response to the previous critiques.

Complete instructions are attached for all grant types. Please note that the Programmatic Award (Category 3) and the Clinical Research Core Award (Category 5) will not be offered this cycle.
