Traci Antes is a nurse practitioner who joined the Johns Hopkins PICU in February 2014. As a frontline clinician, she works with a multidisciplinary team to provide total patient care to critically ill children. She also coordinates on several process improvement projects. She is currently working with a group to improve simulation of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), which is the process of transitioning from active CPR to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO. By improving process measures for ECPR, such as cannulating more quickly and pausing less frequently during CPR, she anticipates that outcomes will improve and more patients will survive to discharge with fewer neurologic deficits She also is working with the burn team to identify opportunities for process improvement. The goal is to take evidence-based practice and ensure that every child gets it every time. Ms. Antes values the opportunity to participate in these quality improvement projects and working to translate research findings into bedside care. When she is not at work, she enjoys being mother to three boys.
Ms. Antes earned her BSN at the Medical College of Georgia and her MSN from Emory University in Atlanta.
