Joseph Hughes, MD, MBA, Clinical Associate, Division of Neuroanesthesia

Dr. Joseph Hughes is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Hughes is a board-certified anesthesiologist and specializes in neuroanesthesiology, practicing at both The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the White Marsh Surgery Center. Prior to joining the faculty at Hopkins, Dr. Hughes served as a clinician, instructor and management consultant in several different areas of the country. He went to medical school at the University Of Chicago Pritzer School Of Medicine before completing his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in cardiovascular anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He has developed an internationally recognized clinical standard of care for pain treatment in spinal surgeries as a member of the Society of Neuroscience for Anesthesiology and Critical Care. Dr. Hughes is also responsible for the clinical operations of the neurosurgical product service line.
